Support the Bane Family

Azniv's Latest Update

“It’s hard to believe it’s been more than 4 months since the fires have come and gone. It still feels very recent, and very raw. Sometimes the emotions hit you so violently when you least expect it. But as quickly as I feel I may spiral into a wave of sadness, I remember how God has held us through the first few months of this journey.

To our family, friends, and church family. This isn’t the first time you have showed up for us. From the happiest times of celebrations, to walking through the valley of the shadow of death, to surgeries, heartaches, mountaintops and now fires. Our family and friends are the best there is. We will argue and scream it from the mountaintops till the day we die.

To be honest, the support from our community was not surprising. Not because we are entitled or deserving, but because we know that is who they are.

I think the part that has moved and uplifted us the most, is seeing God’s hand working through those who dont even know us. The support coming from other churches, family members of our friends, friends of friends. People who were not impacted and very far from Altadena, reaching out, sending prayers, showing support spiritually, emotionally, and financially.

Our rebuild is in the works. The debris from our property has been removed. Our house plans are being drawn. We are so excited for what is ahead. We know God is going to provide. But we would be lying if we didn’t admit we are battling worry and fear. There are many unknown details and important decisions we have to make. So please continue to pray for wisdom on our behalf. That we would be good stewards of the blessings God has poured on us.

Thank you again for everything you have done. May God bless each and every one of you beyond your wildest dreams.”

Soon After the Fires

“It’s been a couple days since we went to the house. How quickly I have stopped calling it “home”. I didn’t know what to expect or what to feel. I thought I was going to feel devastated, depressed. And don’t get me wrong. I was sad. Confused. Especially as I looked at a house across the street and the one next to us; standing.

I started to recognize certain things in the rubble. They reminded me of conversations and memories I had about them, and around them. I smiled. Shrugged my shoulders. Knowing that what I really wanted to find, I wasn’t going to. Things like my babies handprints on school projects, Mother’s Day cards from the last 8 years, my wedding dress, But in that moment, it hit me that we are still here. It’s silly I know. Obviously, we are here. But being here means that there are new memories to be made.

This life has showed me enough tragedy and devastation than I would have cared to see. And even in the midst of the rubble and the chaos, I was excited to go home to what God let me keep.”
